My interventions are based on two simple beliefs:
1) If you continue doing what you have always done, then you will always get what you have got until now.
2) If the way you do something doesn't work then you need to change it and do it a different way.
But how do you change what is going on inside? Easy; you re-program your brain. The hard part is installing the new software and getting it to run.
Most people have learnt more about how to use their mobile phone than they have about using their brain. After all, they were born with it and it worked. Despite all the odds, it even managed to work correctly - most of the time.
NLP and Hypnosis are two of the most powerful tools available to create the new software you need to make those important changes in your life. Not only that, they assist in pain free installation, and provide easy to understand instructions. If only all software came like that!
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Neuro refers to your brain and nervous system. Linguistic refers to the study of all forms of verbal and non-verbal communication. Programming refers to the way we learn to behave and understand what is going on around us.
The definition of NLP varies according to where you look, some say it is an attitude, others call it a methodology, whilst others refer to it as a tool. Someone else said, "Many of us build castles in the sky. NLP can build the stairway to get to the castle."
It is all of these things - and more.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to treat and relieve a variety of unwanted physical, psychological and emotional symptoms.
Hypnosis is just a state of total relaxation, similar to meditation, but easier to reach! Words, phrases, imagination and sometimes music are used to guide you into an hypnotic trance which enables me to deal directly with the part of you that runs the programs - the subconscious mind.
Hypnosis is not like counselling or psychotherapy - it is a system which uses very different dynamics, solutions and approaches than other methods or "talk based therapies". It engages the natural power of your unconscious mind, so that you can make the needed changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviours
Hypnosis has nothing to do with controlling you. I use my skills with you to help get you back in control and in the driving seat of your life. We are all on a journey - but have you ever asked yourself, "Who planned the route?", or "Who is reading the map?", or for that matter "Who is driving my bus?"
Hypnosis is very powerful and direct. There is no soul searching over why you react, think or do things in a given way. There is no need to re-live past trauma or painful memories to find a hidden meaning so that you come to terms with something. Why should you have to come to terms with something painful that you would rather forget?
I have found that humour, when combined with a head-on approach, brings about changes quickly and easily, whatever your problem.
What does it feel like?
It feels different to each and every one of us. Many say they feel very relaxed and comfortable, almost like drifting off to sleep. Others say that they simply calmed down and let things happen in their own time. One common denominator is the "I couldn't be bothered" attitude. " I couldn't be bothered to move" is a frequent comment. However, you will still be able to hear my voice whilst in this relaxed state and be fully aware and focused. You will even be able to scratch your nose if it itches - if you can be bothered to!
Is it safe?
Hypnosis is a natural and effective way of making contact with your inner self without harmful side effects, only benefits.
Will I loose control?
No. In fact the person who is hypnotised is more in control than the person hypnotising them. This may sound illogical, but it is true and I explain this statement to all of my clients. No one can be hypnotized against their will, nor will they do anything they do not want to do.
Will I remember everything afterwards?
Possibly! It is your conscious mind that remembers things and that will probably be dreaming of lying on the beach of a tropical island, with the waves breaking on the warm sands, whilst the birds fly amongst the palm tress, singing as they go…
In all probability you would remember that, but if you remember anything else - so what?
If for any reason you insist on remembering, just say so! Almost every wish can be catered for.
How long will it take to see changes?
This depends on the nature of the changes you are seeking. The majority of clients notice positive changes occurring after the first visit. A course of treatment would normally be completed in between two to four sessions. I can safely say that it will be quicker to help someone to stop biting their nails than to help someone who has suffered emotional abuse for decades.
